Which foods commonly contain soy?

Making Easter dinner with my Dad was pretty entertaining this year.  Honest to goodness, I was enjoying watching the family scramble over this new found soy allergy of mine.  They were astonished at which foods have soy hidden within them, let alone non-foods, and how I have to even call the bakeries just in case.  Below is a list of foods commonly containing soy.  If I missed any, please comment below!  It will help us all…

Foods Commonly Containing Soy:

  • Baby foods, formula, cereals
  • Processed baked goods
  • Cakes, cookies, muffins, breads
  • Baking mixes and canned frosting
  • Breakfast cereals, instant breakfast drinks

Salad dressing, frozen fruit, specifically Acai! I did a huge rant on that one. So frustrating! I also have to get grassfed meats and confirm they weren’t fed soy. I know there is some debate in whether it’s in the meat, but I get sick if I eat meat that is grain fed/finished.

Michelle! Yes! I totally forgot Salad dressing! But wait…. frozen fruit!? That is a new one for me! And Acai!? Wow….. Why do they even put soy in that stuff? Maybe to coat the berries so they don’t stick together? Hmmm….. Check out my post on “what’s next” I have an info graph from WWF on the whole meat situation. #hiddensoy
